This is my first time ever hauling my bike to a rally on a trailer. The hundred plus degree forecast put a damper on my enthusiasm for cooking myself to a medium well condition. |
However, these legs could use a little deep frying. |
It is a sad note for our nation when we have to fly Old Glory at half mast almost every day of the year. |
We are laying over in Barstow, CA and decided to visit a couple of the local attractions. |
One Road Runner to another. |
Nice Stretch Tortoise. |
He is in there somewhere, but I couldn't find him. |
Hiding flat against the wall |
This is the second largest Meteor ever found in the US |
A little info about it. |
Harvey House Barstow |
They were built along the Rail Road out West. |
There were several built and they were designed to bring a little down home comfort to people traveling by rail in the late 1800's. |
This particular one burned down in 1907 and was replaced by this brick one in 1911 |
The Harvey Houses were the first restaurant chain in the US |
Next door is a nice railroad museum. Just a few of the display cars. |
I peeked into one of the Harvey House windows and saw this display. |
I'm not sure what it is, but thought it was pretty cool. |
On our way back to our motel we stopped for an early dinner at Lola's. It was rated 4.5 stars on Trip Advisor but was closer to a 3.5 star reality. |
I think Sherm is doing his part to correct that rating. :) |
